Typically yes. In order to provide effective intervention and strategies, Focus Speech Therapy will often conduct their own evaluations. Evaluation criteria and administration can vary across SLPs, it is pertinent that we conduct our own evaluation to determine appropriate goals and course of therapy.

I want to ensure therapy time is never wasted! Session length varies based on age of client, stamina, severity of diagnosis and other factors which we will discuss. Most clients will benefit from coming in at least twice a week.

Executive functioning refers to our ability to accomplish everyday tasks by completing steps in sequential order, understanding what the final product looks like, and determining how much time is needed, and more.

ADHD therapy (or executive functioning) will focus on increasing your child’s independence and decreasing their prompt dependence (e.g., “put your shoes on. Now go get your backpack, etc.”). Children will better understand time constraints, steps needed to complete assignments/projects, and more.

Absolutely! Literacy skills are taught earlier and earlier, and Focus Speech Therapy teaches pre-reading skills to ensure Kindergarten readiness. We also provide therapy to school-age children who may demonstrate difficulty with reading, reading comprehension, and retaining vocabulary concepts.

Yes! Schools are bound by Missouri State Standards, which may be why your child has a deficit but is not considered “severe” enough for an IEP. However, you can still access therapy via private practices like mine!
