Reading Starts with a Strong Foundation

Before children learn to read, they need a strong foundation of language and literacy skills. This porgram focuses on developing the skills that support future reading success, including:

  • Alphabet knowledge — recognizing letters, understanding letter names, and connecting letters with sounds

  • Phonological awareness — learning to hear, identify, and manipulate the sounds in words

  • Reading comprehension — building vocabulary, understanding stories, and developing the skills needed to make meaning from text

  • Early writing skills — strengthening letter formation, drawing, and early attempts at written expression

Through play-based activities, stories, movement, and hands-on learning, children will build the confidence and foundational skills they need to become successful readers.
