Give your child a confident start to kindergarten
Kindergarten Kick-Start
Reading doesn't begin with books—it begins with language. This camp helps preschoolers develop the foundational language and literacy skills that make learning to read easier and kindergarten more successful.
Help your preschooler build the language, literacy, and confidence they need for kindergarten success through a play-based camp led by a speech-language pathologist. Every activity is intentionally designed to strengthen the foundational skills that support learning to read while keeping children engaged, moving, and having fun.

Reading Starts with a Strong Foundation
Before children learn to read, they need a strong foundation of language and literacy skills. This camp focuses on developing the skills that support future reading success, including:
Alphabet knowledge — recognizing letters, understanding letter names, and connecting letters with sounds
Phonological awareness — learning to hear, identify, and manipulate the sounds in words
Reading comprehension — building vocabulary, understanding stories, and developing the skills needed to make meaning from text
Early writing skills — strengthening letter formation, drawing, and early attempts at written expression
Through play-based activities, stories, movement, and hands-on learning, children will build the confidence and foundational skills they need to become successful readers.

We recommend prepping your child for camp. Letting them know where they will be going and what they will be doing. You can email christa@focusspeechtherapy to provide a picture of the space. Unfortunately, the therapy space is limited and parents will need to wait in the waiting room. While social skills are not the focus of the camp, children will naturally work on sharing, listening, and basic conversation skills.
-
The camp is $75 per session or $150 per week. The first installment of $600 is due prior to the first day of camp. The second installment of $600 is due at the midway point.

Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) earn master's degrees, complete hundreds of hours of supervised clinical training, pass a national certification exam, and are licensed to assess and treat language-based disorders. Our education focuses on how children develop speech, language, literacy, and communication—and how those systems work together in the brain.
We don't just teach children to read words on a page; we evaluate and strengthen the foundational skills that make reading possible, including phonological awareness, language comprehension, vocabulary, memory for language, and sound-symbol relationships
